Transform challenges to sustainability opportunities

Why PaCE?

“Transform your coastal challenges into sustainability opportunities. Our environmental science services are designed to enhance ecosystem resilience and promote sustainable development. Let us help you navigate the complexities of coastal systems management with innovative, science-based solutions.”

Timely input into project design often secures the biggest environmental efficiencies, with benefits flowing through the approvals process and into operational management. However, no matter the stage of your project, from concept to maintenance, Ports and Coastal Environmental provides solutions to improve performance and strengthen sustainability outcomes. A breadth of experience and a deep understanding of Australia's regulatory objectives for Port environmental management, makes Ports and Coastal Environmental a first-choice provider of quality monitoring, approvals and environmental management services to your industry.

Services

Our most common client services include water quality, sediment and marine habitat assessments for mining, infrastructure and government clients.  See our descriptions below and our recent projects linked above.

Water quality

Our clients span the full framework of water quality assessment, from marine and coastal freshwater environments evaluating discharges, to defining baseline conditions in the broader receiving environment. PaCE works with the client to define a program that fits their regulatory requirements and project needs. We maintain a full range of field-deployed logger systems,  portable physicochemical loggers, vessels and supporting sampling equipment.  We also collaborate with various NATA-accredited laboratories to offer a full water quality monitoring service.

Benthic Habitats

PaCE is diving into the deep with cutting edge tech using advanced robotics to map and monitoring marine habitats.  These tools allow extensive assessments outside the reach of traditional methodologies and enhances our field safety commitment. Using our processes PaCE can survey over 2km of underwater transects per day. This minimises costs and maximises the value of our habitat assessment surveys.

Sediment assessment

Sediment sampling is undertaken using various methods depending on the requirements of the survey program, sediment type and  environmental conditions.

PaCE uses in-house vibrocore, piston core and benthic grabs such as the Van-Veen or Ponar samplers for most programs. We also also works with experienced vibrocore contractors or overwater drillers where additional depths are required.

Programs are undertaken to the clients requirements or a detailed design can be developed by PaCE. PaCE is well experienced in the National Assessments Guidelines for Dredging (NAGD), and adopts these approaches for the majority of our works.

Impact and mitigation

The greatest gains available to mitigate environmental impacts come from turning innovative concepts to considered and practical design.  By incorporating sustainable design practices and innovative technologies from the start, we can significantly mitigate potential harm to marine ecosystems. We have help numerous clients understand processes and integrate environmental specifications into their design process.
